3 Freebie Ideas To Grow Your Email List (Quicker!)

3 Freebie Ideas To Grow Your Email List (Quicker!)

You might’ve been wondering what are some great ways to not only grow your email list, but connect and show your expertise to your, to your audience, to your existing followers and new followers. And guess what? This can all be done with one simple tool called an opt-in page, or in other words, a freebie.

A freebie is a powerful tool that takes your audience off of social media, and onto your email list so you can engage with them regardless of what happens to social media platforms.

For example, two of my friends and clients, their Facebook got hacked the other day and they lost so many people from groups they had been building. And the first thing I asked them was, “Hey, have you been getting people onto your email list?”

Because best thing about an email list is that it’s yours. It’s not owned by a third party.

So imagine TikTok goes away and you lose your a hundred thousand followers, or Instagram goes away and you can’t communicate with your 2,000 followers? How would you sell your products and services? What would happen to your business?

Now here are some freebie ideas to showcase your expertise and truly serve your audience…

Freebie 1: A Checklist

It could be a wellness checklist. It could be a diet checklist. It could be a lifestyle checklist. People love to know about themselves. And they love to know if they’re doing things right.

And remember, since you are the expert, you have all the knowledge. People want to get their sources from a trusted individual and you are that person.

A checklist can be easily created on Canva, or you can even start it in a word document!

So nw, how do people get this checklist? Well, number one, you could simply ask people to DM you. You don’t need a whole opt-in page and a landing page, an email sequence, not in the beginning. I love to say, how can I run my business on bare bones? Well, this is one of those ways you could just say, “Hey, whoever wants this checklist, DM me your email.”

Number two, if you are looking to start your digital marketing portfolio, then you’ll want a simple opt-in page where people can leave their name, email and a very simple, then get a very simple email that delivers the freebie and follow up emails that help the prospective client to get to know you better.

Freebie 2: A Quiz

Do you guys remember when we had the Cosmo magazines or like 17 magazines? And there was always a quiz, like a astrology quiz or the love quiz, and you would take it and tallied up all your points. Then you read the results, super excited! This is the energy that we are building with our potential clients. We are creating excitement based on a quiz.

Like I said, people love to learn about themselves. I do too. I take quizzes still.

I recently created an awesome quiz with a client of mine called: “What are your love blocks?” And, and so far, she’s been able to grow over 140 people onto her email list, just from organic social media from TikTok and Instagram.

So what does it take to build a quiz? There are some softwares you can build them with like TryInteract and Typeform.

Now the cool part about the quizzes is that then you show up as the one who gives them the results. You create the results based on the questions that they answered. And it gives you a chance to show off again, your expertise and be able to really connect with that person and help them out and giving them those initial suggestions on how to be a better lover, how to be healthier, how to sleep better, how to detox their bodies, etc.

Freebie 3: A Challenge

Now there’s paid challenges and there’s free challenges. Free challenges are a great way to indoctrinate and work with people. These could be prerecorded or these could be live.

When you look at a challenge because it’s a more of a time investment and it’s a longer build out of the project. And at the end of the challenge, you are selling a higher level offering or service. Whether it’s a physical product, an online course, coaching, retained services, or an experience – all of it can be sold in a challenge.

Think about the challenge as a very invested experience. It’s a wonderful way to generate leads and to have them experience a transformation over a series of days so that they get a result, they get quick wins and gives you the opportunity to really show up as the expert that you are and offer your services

Freebie 4: A Video Series

A video series creates education and solution-awareness. It could perhaps could be three training videos, or a recording from a recent talk you gave. It’s very easy to reach out to your audience and say, “Hey, put your name and email here and get these three training videos to help you XYZ.”

I always tell people to give the transformation, the benefit what’s going to happen when they watch these videos. And you could once again, let the videos come via email, or you give them access to a little online course or membership site, and they can experience the videos, maybe have a question or two that they answer and then see what the next steps are

Remember, it’s your responsibility and opportunity as the entrepreneur to keep the connections with your audience alive, strong, and really meaningful.

How To Make More Money As A Wellness Entrepreneur

How To Make More Money As A Wellness Entrepreneur

Today, we’re talking about something super important called offers and being a marketer. That’s right. Why is this so important? Because it’s the foundation of your entire business.

What ends up happening with a lot of us who are holistic entrepreneurs, yogis, and service providers is that we get so caught up in inconsistent one-on-one services or an occasional group, but not really having a stack of offers that work together strategically. I do want you to think about how you can get more clients with your time, but also while working smart.

As a business coach, I love to talk about offers, also known as offerings, because they are the foundation of you being able to show up as a credible expert, who gets paid well to do what they love to do all day every day.

The 2 steps to making more money as a wellness entrepreneur…

Step 1: Play to your strengths!

Ask yourself…

  1. Do you like to work one-on-one with people?
  2. Do you like to be in group settings?
  3. Do you like to speak in front of big crowds?
  4. How do you like to show up?

It’s important to determine how you like to work so that we can make sure you are comfortable, that you are going to shine, and that it is going to be fun for you. That’s it!

So once we understand how you want to show up, now we can start creating your magical business layer cake!

Step 2: Examine all of the different revenue streams available to you

1. Trade Time For Money

Although a lot of people say that you shouldn’t trade time for money, this is still a fabulous way to generate an income. And it’s an essential part of every offer ladder.

Plus, guess what? As wellness entrepreneurs, I am guessing that you love to work with your clients. You love to interact with them. You love to treat them. Are you an acupuncturist, massage therapist, yoga teacher? There’s still such value in working one-on-one with clients or in a group setting. It’s okay to still trade time for money.

What’s not okay is relying on that being your wealth strategy. One-on-one, small group classes, large classes, being a speaker. This is still trading time for money, and some are scalable, and some are not.

So let’s go over the ones that are limited, and also the ones that you can also charge premium prices for.

So, for example, if I want to get fit, or I want to get flexible quickly. Instead of going to group classes or going to the gym on my own, I might hire a private teacher that way we can address my needs, my concerns, and my body. That’s going to cost me money. If I hire a trainer, if I hire a private teacher, I’m going to pay premium because it’s 100% of their attention on me.

So when you are positioning yourself as a one-on-one teacher, please make sure you charge accordingly.

Now, this is going to vary on your town, your city, your state, your country. Every time I’ve gone to Peru to teach whether it was yoga or Acro Yoga, or even Thai massage. I had to lower my prices a little bit because the currency there is very different, and I wanted to be of service for the people.

What I would charge here in Miami, where prices are a little bit higher, we have premium rates I wouldn’t do down there. So be smart about where you are and how you create your prices.

Next, determine how much value you’re delivering to decide on your price. This makes sure that your one-on-one prices can become up-leveled, and make it easier to charge a premium because you’re delivering more value.

Maybe your one-on-one work comes with a membership to your online yoga studio, or essential oils, a beautiful treatment, a tote bag, something that is going to allow you to raise your prices a little bit without also feeling icky because I know we’re of service and I don’t want to ever make you not feel like you’re showing up fully as a holistic entrepreneur.

So that summarizes one-on-one work. Pros? You give 120% of your attention on your client. Cons? There’s only one of you, which makes it very limiting. Typically, you could only take five clients a day.

2. Group Classes

I love group classes! I love people. I’m a group person. If you could just hug me. That’d be great. Why? Because I feed off people’s energy. So for me, group classes is one of my favorite ways of working. Now, pro. Lots of people, lots and lots and lots of people can mean lots and lots and lots of money.

But depending on the situation, for example, when I used to own my yoga studio, yes, there was be lots and lots of people for my teachers, but their pay rate was not all the money. Why? Because the model of being an employee isn’t the most fruitful.

Now, if you’re going to do group classes, always get people onto your email list and always, always, always have an upsell.

Cons of group classes is that obviously, you’re not giving 100% of your attention to one person. So maybe people won’t feel that 100% focus on them. But if you’re a good instructor or you’re a good service provider, guess what? You can still have great outcome.

In my yoga conferences, the Global Yoga Conference, and my Yoga Expo, sometimes the teacher teaches to a hundred people. Obviously, there’s no way to personalize that, but there’s still a great way to cue, message, give information that can serve somebody at each part of their experience, their practice, or their journey.

But again, be sure to always have an upsell and always show up as inclusive as possible.

3. Small Group Private

Why do I love this one? Because it has a blend. You can still charge a high amount, and provide your clients the attention they need, but the difference is that it is scalable.

For example, I run two types of consulting and coaching. I do one-on-one work, and I do group work.

Now, when you’re doing group work, this means you have scalability. You are you to many. It’s going to give you a lot of potential, not only to connect but to also make great change. You can have a deep impact on people because you’re solving lots of problems, and there’s also a sense of comradery and union that gets formed for your members

4. Info Products

This is where your knowledge is shared to many people. So now this becomes a product consumed by groups of people. This is where the most scalability and leverage lies.

I get this done through my online courses where people are consuming the material in a way that doesn’t take any additional time. When you create an online course, you complete it once and don’t have to add more work as more people join. There’s so much maximization potential.

So think about you positioning yourself out there in these four different ways so that you have a variety. You want to be able to help people in different ways so that you’re also supporting yourself, your self-care, connection to others, and your bottom line, which is your revenue.

Pick the one that’s going to give you the most money right away. Why? Because if you’re looking to grow your financial side of your business, then pick the one that gives you the highest revenue. That might not be your one-on-one. That might be a group. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean teaching classes for low amounts of money. It could be a program. It could be a retreat. It could be a training. Now, this is what I love to teach! The potential to have scalable business through a group setting with also a nice price point. Teacher trainings, retreats, transformative programs, or group plus one-on-one. These all can have price points of a thousand and up. And it’s the best way to change your financial outcome without needing a ton of people.

If we look at the concept of pricing, we’ve got to see that if you’re like a Ferrari, or you’re a Louboutin, Louis Vuitton. You don’t need to sell a lot. You might only need five clients a month to double your income.

Now, if you need a ton of people to meet your baseline. It might take longer. When you’re creating your products, have a variety and think of it like a menu. When you go to a restaurant, there are lots of things for you to choose from. And in the middle part of the menu is going to be chefs’ choices. So I want you to make your chefs’ choices for the day and see what product you want to promote. What do you want to create that makes sense for you? And you probably want to start at a higher price point.

So what can you put out there that’s worth $200 to $1,000? Is it a certification that’s specific?

For example, chair yoga or Reiki atunement. Maybe it’s a modality of massage. Again, this is where you also start showing up as an expert. So your confidence level, your credibility, your professionalism gets to shine through even more.

The last thing that’s really important is that I want you to do a goal. How much money do you want to make a month? So let’s say it’s about $5,000. Maybe it’s $10,000. If you are trying to fill your calendar with 40, $50 an hour average, you’re going to need a lot of those hours. But if you can do a few that are $30, $40, $50 an hour, and a few that are $200 an hour.

Now you also want to make sure that when you’re creating your menu of services, that as you figure out what your monthly revenue goal is that we create the price points accordingly.

And then all we have to do is fill in the amount of students that we need per thing.

So let’s say you’re leading a certification. You are an amazing massage therapist, like my husband, and specialize in lower back. And you’re going to lead a certification training or give educational credits. Now, perhaps you do a one-day seminar. You charged $85 per person, and you get 10 people. That’s an $850 a day. Pretty cool, right?

Or let’s say that you are a yoga teacher and you have your E-RYT 500. You can give workshops and you do a weekend that is for yoga teachers, all about adjustments, cueing, how to become a better teacher. And you charge $250 for this because it’s only a couple hours a day. 20 people, you’ve got a $4,000 weekend.

So start looking at the possibilities of growing your offerings in a way that feels good to you, to where you’re at in your career. So when you’re doing your menu of services, see where you show up. Are you showing up as a credible professional that can give more value? Are you using your knowledge and turning it into a product?

Are you creating opportunities for people to really get an immersive learning experience from you, maybe through a retreat?

So this is your opportunity to shine in the way that you create your offers that match your goals, that provide the results. At the end of the day, we want everyone to look good, to feel good, and to be good. I’m so excited to see what you put out there!

Mantras for Your Enjoyment and Practice

Mantras

Feeling complete and joyful is important in your life as it creates an environment of a healthy mental and emotional state. There are so many ways you can do this and one of them which I particularly like and teach often in my classes and trainings is mantra. It’s a practice that can be done by anyone, whenever, wherever which makes it accessible to all. You’ll find enjoyment in the process!

What is mantra?

A mantra is the repetition of a word, words or sounds. Sometimes it’s as simple as a phrase in your own language repeated over and over or a more complicated sanskrit phrase or sound. We’ll delve into 3 of my favorite mantras below that will lead you to a practice you can maintain for when you need or some people start a sadhana journey which is your own practice over at least 21 days. Mantras have been used over thousands of years by spiritual guides. The rosary is even a form of mantra.

When should you repeat a mantra?

There is no perfect time to start a mantra practice, and really it should be done with a guide so that if you are doing one in sanskrit you get the right pronunciation and get the energetic effect it wants to deliver. Mantras are good for specific moments when you want to attract a certain energy to your life or create a shift. For example, I started a mantra to bring good energy for my baby’s birth coming soon.

Which mantras should I use?

Like I mentioned earlier, there are many types out there and the right one will fit what you want.

Mantra for Transformation:

Asato ma sadgamaya

Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya

Mrtyorma amritam gamaya

“Lead me from the untruth to truth, lead me from darkness to light, lead me from death to immortality.”

This is a mantra from the Upanishads circa 800 BCE which are spiritual teachings and ideas. To listen to it CLICK HERE.

Mantra for Positivity:

I am perfect. I am complete. I am everything I want to be and more.

I am beautiful. I am divine. I am powerful.

I am strong and flexible. I am a creator. I am a receiver.

I am perfect and complete.

Mantra for Peace:

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti

Sometimes the simplest forms of repetition can have the largest effect. This mantra means Om peace, peace, peace. Om represents sound primordial and is also spelled AUM to represent the 3 aspects of the self – body / mind / spirit.

I hope you enjoyed these mantras and choose 1 that can resonate with you now. Start with a daily practice and see what happens.

5 Tips To Keep You Motivated

Stay motivated. keep moving. inspire
Stay motivated. keep moving. inspire

Want to keep motivated?

This is exactly what we will cover today because it sometimes feels daunting to always be moving in a direction… motivation sometimes just isn’t there right? And when shit hits the fan, how do you stay motivated?

I am excited and motivated about getting back to my blogging.

So many shifts in my life that kept me from stepping back into my zone of magic and one of those was actually not finding motivation.

This is all about motivation today. The 5 tips to keep yourself going.

How to keep moving forward when you just feel like you can’t

Well what if I told you one of the easiest ways is to actually stop sometimes.

I have an awesome chat group with some fellow master minders and today’s chat was all about being lazy.

Why is being lazy so important to keep you motivated?

  1. You become an efficient and effective producer. These are 2 very different concepts by the way. Being efficient isn’t always being effective, so put the 2 together and you are an accomplishment machine!

  2. Procrastinate! In my online course I teach all about using tools to be an effective procrastinator. Now this doesn’t mean waiting until the last minute and getting all stressed out about it. It means using the essence of it and setting a deadline!

  3. Community. Being motivated when you are alone sometimes is so hard. This morning I even woke up with sadness and frustration and 1st thing I did (after letting myself wallow for a few minutes) was call a friend. And the result is we are setting some time apart to work together and get some shit done.

  4. Set boundaries on what you invest in. I should also say who. By creating a NO answer you curate time for yourself to focus on what makes you happy. You stop moving your energy horizontally and move in deeper into your self and your goals.

  5. Be the clever self you are. Give yourself a pat on the back and say thank you for being clever and discerning. In Sanskrit buddhi, which means intellect, holds discernment as a quality that refers to the higher mind This is the observer that watches how our inner world works and makes decisions of what’s important (or not important.

Let me tell you a story of how my client chose to motivate vs give up.

I’m sitting helping my client create her training manual and sales page for her training she’s putting out. I suddenly see the smile disappear from her face.

She looks up and says I can’t do this.

I see the frustration in her eyes.

I know this feeling because I have been there many times.

What happens I say if you don’t do this training? What happens if you actually launch it and it’s successful?

Sometimes being an entrepreneur and a self starter gets really really hard. It’s not always easy.

But you know what her answer was… “If I don’t do this then the people who would take my training wouldn’t get this new modality to teach”

And then what if they don’t?

“Then students won’t get to take my awesome classes all over the city… AND I’ve disappointed myself with ALL the hard work I’ve already put in”.

Close your eyes and picture 1 thing that motivates you!

Let that be your one thing. Your one reason for not stopping. It can be completely self-less or maybe a bit self-fish. And that’s OK!

Paying off your credit card debt is what motivates you… perfect.

Going on a vacation for the 1st time in 3 years is your motivation… perfect.

Donating to save the elephants is your driver… perfect.

And always don’t forget to meditate as whether it’s anger, frustration, fear or all the other things, meditation will keep you grounded. 🙂

Just put your best foot forward and go.

The world is waiting for you.

My newsletter and open rates… why do I need to know?

Newsletter hell.

Have you asked yourself this question before? Are you stuck trying to see what cool stuff you send in your newsletter? I know. I have been there. I have been naughty and not sent my newsletter because I had no idea what to send! You know I had a studio for a long time and we had to send weekly newsletters with all the cool stuff going on – arm balance class, workshop, teacher training. BUY! BUY! BUY!

All we wanted to do was sell events and get people interested. Guess what, at some point the newsletter consisted of the same shit every week because we either didn’t have that many events or they were in advance so we needed to send something right?

So annoying.

Yes, this is exactly what it turned into. An annoying task with absolutely no excitement other than maybe making a cool little artwork for the newsletter event. Woohoo. What started happening is that our open rates were low. People weren’t clicking or signing up. People would come to the events, yes of course, but because of the of the interaction at the studio or at the front desk. So few would pre-register making it even more stressful and honestly annoying.

What changed???

I had a vague idea of email marketing a few years back. I knew we needed to collect emails and then send newsletters. That was about it. NOT what I know now. Have you ever said to yourself “If I knew then what I know now…” Well let’s focus on what I know now, vs, what I knew then since it wasn’t that useful.

After taking many courses on marketing and rubbing elbows with some pretty intelligent and successful people, I realized everything I was doing was moving people away from clicking open. Because they were constantly getting yelled at with sign up, events, retreat and nothing else, they had no motivation. No bait as some say.

They were bored of not getting value.

I use this word value like the elephant in the room. It’s huge, it’s sitting there, but we ignore it. Poor elephant. I was scared of giving people FREE information in my newsletters! I just wanted to them sign up for the arm balance workshop, so why would giving them a video about arm balance be beneficial.

The hook.

That arm balance video was my free teaser. Was my lure to get them hooked. VALUE. I offered a video tip on how to get into crow but I didn’t give them a 2 hour long workshop in the email. What it did was spark the interest of the reader to want to learn more, easier and more efficient ways to do arm balances. Do you get it? Yup. This was the magic touch. Tease them with valuable info that they can take with them on their journey. Maybe you are really excited about offering a tantra workshop- well write a really cool article with awesome information about tantra. You aren’t giving away the whole pie. You are only giving them valuable tips to show you are a credible source to make them say, “WOW, that was amazing and I learned so much I want more!!!”

You get it?

Well, this is your time to turn around these email campaigns and get some interaction! Instead of little opens, I get replies from people saying thanks so much, that was exactly what I needed and more! It feels so good to know I can help via one video, audio or blog post.

Try it out!

On your next newsletter try it out and see what happens. Get some catchy titles, get creative, add your voice in the writing so it feels authentic and powerful. And guess what? You don’t always need to sell something!!! So cool right? Give and you might receive, but give anyways. As a yogi hearted business minded human you know it feels right to give from the heart… and even better your clients will feel it too.

Namaste!

Growing your business. Let’s play a disappearing act said no one but me.

Growing your business. What does it mean?

This is where we all what to be… in the growing your business mode. I feel like I am there constantly and this is a great thing but sometimes it doesn’t go the way we envision it. Remember one of my last posts Analysis Paralysis?  You would think I am a freaking activating, mind moving, business savvy business mentor and I don’t fall prey to that kind of stuff. Well, HELLO to my disappearing act because that exact thing I wrote about happened to me. I’m in growing my business mode, so why did I disappear?

For the last few weeks, all that I have been doing is discerning what I want to tackle and not. Looking at the bigger picture, listening to what I want and do not want. I’ve been meditating, connecting with my desires, listening to webinars… and… and… wait where are my clients? Where are my webinars I had scheduled? Where are the Facebook ads I had started?

What really happened…

Ok so here is the truth. I took on more than I could handle. My business actually grew by a MASSIVE leap when I said YES to becoming the new owner of The Yoga Expo. The Bizzy Yogi just got bizzier. First of all, let me be super grateful about this new venture and to the opportunity, I am now presented with. I am so incredibly freaking proud of myself for taking on such a huge venture that totally has changed my life. So this is me reconnecting to my initial intention to create a tribe of amazing yogi hearted, business savvy entrepreneurs who want to change the world one OM at a time. The disconnection actually allowed my business to not just grow, but to bloom.

Because of the time I took to stop, breathe, manifest, I allowed this massive opportunity to enter my life, and yours also. What’s so cool is that now I will share what it’s like to put on a 3000 person event. This is also an opportunity for you to grow your business also by stepping up into areas unknown and having the support to just do it.

Growing your business painsSometimes in order to grow your business, you have to disappear

What are the bigger lessons here? There are several:

  1. Taking on a new responsibility doesn’t mean letting go of everything else
  2. Having a mentor to grow your business helps (will talk about this more)
  3. It’s OK to disappear as long as you do it for a bigger reason and not because of fear
  4. Seeing opportunities in life as your teachers and making you step out of your comfort zone only come once in a while
  5. Be proud of yourself no matter what!!!

The result

Now that I am fully in the flow and see my business in momentum, I am here for you once again! I know everything happens for a reason and I want to tell you how growing a business can be some strange happenings that sometimes we think are not good for us, then low and behold, they are!

How To Stay Afloat In Business and Life

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

How To Stay Afloat In Business

stay-afloat

Staying on top, or afloat in business and life is a top priority. Do you consider yourself a solo-preneur? Do you feel like you have to do everything because you either can’t afford to hire out or you just have mad skills that enable you to be the ninja of it all?

Let’s talk a little about what being a solo-preneur is. First of all let’s get really clear about why it’s so good to have these moments of self reflection. Look at your business and life and see where the heaviness is and also of course, where the light is. Below is a little checklist of what to look at and really see where you’re at because once you have a map it will open your eyes on where you want to put more time, energy or even invest to meet your goals and feel full and afloat. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine yourself in the ocean, sun shining, crystal clear water so you can see the bottom. Now allow yourself to float with that sense of total weightlessness around you. How does that feel like?

Here are some things to consider and check out to scan if your floating experience is not just zen but the power it gives you to feel and sense at a much higher vibration.

AREAS TO CHECK AND SEE IF YOU ARE FLOATING

  1. Health: Are you feeling energized? Is your health tip-top or maybe a bit low n the scale.
  2. Relationships: How do you connect with yourself? This should be the top priority! Then is how are the relationships with your kids, family, friends- rich or lacking?
  3. Spirit: Is meditation and spiritual practice important to you? Do you have time to nourish this?
  4. Business: How is your business running? Can it run without you yet? Is it in flow or stuck in paralysis?
  5. Purpose & Passion: Are you feeling like all you do connects with your purpose and passion? Do you know what your purpose even is?
  6. Freedom: Can you take a month off and go to Bali? Are you free to take vacation or are you in the rat race because without you, your business can’t run?
  7. Time: How valuable is this!!! TIME is all we want because it’s the one thing you can’t get back. Do you have time to spare and explore your hobbies or start a new project?
  8. Fun: Have you forgotten what fun is? Are you sacrificing fun for work?

Just for a minute check out these areas and see how you feel in each one of them. Are you feeling empowered or fearful around some of these? Let me tell you, I know freedom is one of my top priorities but when I started my business, it’s actually the one I had the least of. So knowing this what did I need to do in order to have balance?

Motivation: How My Grandmother Saved My Business & Life

Top lessons from mamama for motivation:

Close your eyes and think of the time someone saved your life. For me it was when I was 3 years old on vacation in Miami and I daringly jumped into the pool without my floaties. Holy crap that was the most amazing feeling until I started sinking… and sinking… and sinking. All of a sudden I get pulled into the surface by my grandmother who was super woman. Do you have someone in your life who motivates you? Because you deserve constant support and to be saved every now and then.

My grandma – will call her Mamama Berta – was the strongest, most astute woman I have ever met. Both my grandmas were, but I am honoring this post the Mamama Berta.

Being in Peru with her for 3 days last week praying, chanting, doing mantras, using oils, doing reiki all to help her soul pass into heaven quicker and with no roadblocks showed me many things.

  1. The time I have here is limited
  2. Breath is numbered
  3. Thank god I own my own business so I can just get up and go when I need without asking anyone
  4. I am completely FREE
  5. I am NOT  self sabotaging myself any longer
  6. Motivate yourself daily to be better

So you are an entrepreneur? Yeah let’s talk…

Do you work 24/7? Do you jump up when I client calls you and put things in the back burner? Do you doubt yourself when you are having fun because you have to follow up with clients, or send that email and most of all finish your work?

I know this is hard to swallow. The pill is bigger than what you want and your kombucha isn’t helping it go down.

TIME is limited.

LIFE is a gift.

Allow yourself to streamline some of your work, outsource, automate and keep moving.

I can do it all!

Yes of course you can. You can do your books, your marketing, create the content, teach the classes, come up with business growth and maybe then you can take a day off and take a freaking nap in the sun.

Get some help! This changes daily as I understand who to hire for the right reasons, who to reach out to who has a quicker and better answer. At the end of the day- don’t we want our time back?

Prioritize what you like to do best. I realized very quickly I dislike accounting, I pretended I did and my books went to total shit. Yup. Shit. So I hired a bookeeper and now my life is way easier as I can focus on what I LOVE which is content creation and strategy for growth.

Motivation comes from the self. You have to keep your spirits up when there is overwhelm.

I hired someone to help with social media. Why? Cause it takes too freaking LONG! I really appreciate all the growth strategies for my instagram but honestly, I rather be doing something else.

Do you see? Pretty much everything we do should fill our cup vs emptying it.

Back to Mamama Berta.

Here are 3 gems from my abuelita:

  1. Never stop moving. The minute you sit down is when you stay seated forever.
  2. Sell! All you need in life is to sell your products so you can keep your economy in check.
  3. Keep your family close.

I hope you all learned a few things here because I sure as heck did. The process wasn’t easy but it slapped me in the face and is making me streamline so much so I can better serve you!!!

Entrepreneur: Top 10 Tips To Be A Yoga Business Pro

How ready are you to step up your yoga business knowledge?

Creating a profitable yoga business is not far ahead in your future! So many of yoga teachers are looking to create a better living through doing what they love! Are you ready to find your yoga entrepreneur?

We are thrown into the world of entrepreneurship without formal training, expected to market and fill classes without really knowing how to market effectively, and asked to be a walking brand without having clarity of what that even looks like.

These 10 tips will help move you along the world of entrepreneurship and wellness. Are you ready? I need to hear a LOUD yes as the more excited you are… the better the results!

I’m on a mission to change that and make you a kick ass yoga entrepreneur.

Are you asking why would I want to be an entrepreneur? This you can only answer yourself. Many of us simply want to be part time yoga teachers, but if you are tired of your daily grind then you might want to read this.

1. Clarity of what you want in life

Meditate. Asana. Focus. These tools are readily available to create a clear vision of what your life wants to look like. Desire is a powerful tool in yoga entrepreneur vision quest. What do you want? When do you want it by? Who will help you get there?

Create your own destiny and design your own life. Get the right tools to get there faster because trust me right tools creates ease!

2. Self value & worth

You mean to tell me you don’t look in the mirror daily with words of affirmation and love? Well start today! Knowing your value is so important. This affects how you present yourself into the world, your students and clients and most of all, it feels really really good.

One of my best clients told me the main reason he hires me and pays me (almost double of what I usually charge) is my confidence.

It is common to lack the will and knowhow of your own amazing value. Look back into your years of teaching, look to see how much time and money you have invested in yourself. Look at all the books you have read. There is tons of value in your vault and it’s time you recognize that and let it shine! Weeeeeee!!!!

3. Understanding yoga culture

Did you know the yoga industry is a 9.1 billion dollar business? I didn’t until recently. I knew it was big, but $9.1 billion big? There is a massive growth in yoga and wellness with a 4%  yearly increase. Imagine the possibilities! The world is changing and we are on that train.

The high levels of stress, of needing something so powerful to fill a void of self discovery is at an all time high. The world is focusing on depth in an ever changing fast paced social media lifestyle.

Jump on the bandwagon of helping people move inwards because honestly it’s not nearly enough. My philosophy: work out to work in. If that means you only do yoga for physical benefits the time on your mat is priceless and will change your life. Guaranteed.

Write down your current yoga business. What does it look like? How can you find yourself more active?

4. Purpose time

Simon Sinek has an amazing TED talk on the power of WHY. When we live from purpose, from a deep place in our hearts, career, business, life take on new meaning. Companies, and you as an entrepreneur, should consider having a greater purpose.

Some of the most successful CEO’s like Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Russell Simmons and more are major players in improving the lives of others therefore create a better world and make money doing so.

Probably the biggest reason to work and live from purpose is that it creates a sense of selflessness thus giving you warm fuzzy feelings.

5. Make that money honey… but wait is that ok?

Such crazy misconceptions out there about money that it baffles me. Why is making money so wrong if you are a spiritual being? Why do people think of money as being dirty (well physically it has a lot of germs) but that’s besides the point.

Money and earning it is a GOOD thing because more and more we need it to do things like pay rent, car, electricity, internet, cell phones… are you catching my drift? What does a life without the basic necessities look like to you? I know ideally in a utopian world we barter for services but we live in a capitalist world where money is a basic unit of life.

Imagine if you can have all the money in the world. Probably looks like a whole lot of giving, a ton of charity and yet we are afraid to welcome it.

Currency is energy!!! In conclusion meditate on why you want money or why you don’t and guaranteed as a result a shift will occur. Download this free guide to get you started.

6. Revenue streams

Just like a river has many little streams running of it to branch into the world so should your revenue. Putting all your eggs in one basket can be dangerous and can result in you not finding your flow.

Especially in this day and age where being an entrepreneur requires you to be super focused thus dedicating tons of time and effort.

Having a clear picture of what your revenue streams look like helps to see how many eggs and how many baskets you can have. I rather have 1% in 100 baskets rather than 100% in one basket.

7. Business models that make you smile

Did you know there are more than 1 way to make money as a yoga teacher? YES! There are actually over 15 of them which makes this whole eggs and baskets so much more attainable.

Subscriptions, memberships, info products, sales, one on ones, workshops, retreats, online, brick and mortar… and there are more!

Choose business models that make your PURPOSE fit with your LIFESTYLE and as a result work will seem like play instead of something you dread!

8. Competition really is coopetition

As my dear friend Tamara likes to call it coopetition is a call to increase our abilities while moving towards more unique offerings.

There is no reason why competition should stop anyone from achieving their dreams especially when you know how amazing and special you are. I mean I hear people say all the time, there are so many yoga teachers, there are so many yoga studios, well guess what this only makes you up your game that much more thus full power focus!

9. I hate sales

I know trust me this was a long time battle for me which really made me aware of my limiting mindset and why I wasn’t feeling like I was moving further in my financial or personal career goals. Sales is a part of life, the ONLY way you will get more clients hence the opportunity of making sales less of an negative role in your life.

Instead of focusing on the used car sales pitch rather learn ways that sales suits your personality. There are many amazing sales techniques that use compassion making you less of an ass. Just sayin’.

10. Celebration is key!

First of all how often do you celebrate your successes because guarantee you mainly focus on your failures. This is the scarcity mindset epidemic we are trained thus resulting in small celebrations vs big ones!

Since our day to day lives revolve around tasks how can we shift into a more authentic celebration which make the tasks like fun games where we win prizes when completing them?

We can either shift perspectives to looking at daily life as wins therefore training us to be super yogis all the time from mindset to emotional support to general better well being.

Celebrate something awesome you did today as guarantee it will make you smile and most of all make those around you happier as well!

So get Bizzy and make some magic today!

Stress and Yoga

According to www.stress.org – an organization dedicated to educating people on stress and its effects – 77% of people regularly experience physical symptoms caused by stress including fatigue, headaches, upset stomach, and muscle tension.

A whopping 73% of people experience psychological symptoms caused by stress like irritability or anger, anxiousness, lack of energy, or feeling the need to cry.

All of that from STRESS… Is it ruining your life?

Living in our modern world is awesome. It’s fun, fast-paced and convenient! But, let’s face it… Living in the modern world is also… stressful!

Take a moment to think about what creates stress in your life. I’ll wait.

We as yogis aren’t impervious to stress, we can meditate all we want, but can we actually avoid it?

Stress is a mentally and emotionally disruptive condition that is created in response to adverse external influences as seen in the dictionary. It can actually be a good thing for health and safety but also can wreak havoc on your mental and physical bodies.

I know you’re saying, how is stress good for me? Well, it sends more oxygen to the brain so we can be sharper, quicker, and helps us solve problems easier.

But if you are constantly getting bombarded with stress in our lives then we have an excess, and as good yogis we know excess is unbalanced and just plain overwhelming.

You want to eliminate chronic stress as much as possible as it causes many negative effects in our lives. It affects our immune, endocrine and nervous, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, muscular and reproductive systems.

That sums up the entire body! Why would we want anything to mess with our entire being? You don’t! Keep reading to find out how Yoga comes into play!

Let’s dig a little deeper!

Immune System:

The release of cortisol over long periods of time creates inflammation and prevents histamine secretion. This can actually delay our healing process and can increase chances of viral infections.

On a good note, a little stress can actually heal wounds, but how many serious wounds do you get in your life vs battling constant inflammation due to chronic stress.

Yoga Journal published a piece that expertly sums up how different Yoga poses can help boost your immune system and how meditating for only 20 minutes a day can decrease your daily cortisol production.

Endocrine & Nervous System:

Adrenaline & cortisol. Your 2 great friends that play go, go, go in the fight or flight responses. Now this is great if you are getting chased by a bear and need to run 10 x’s faster to save your life, but do we need constant pumping of these chemicals in our adrenals? NO.

If there are symptoms of chronic stress, your CNS (Central Nervous System) never shuts down or goes back to normal causing depression, anxiety, and insomnia.

Using yoga we can battle this overproduction of adrenaline and cortisol by practicing asana, using mulabhanda and meditation. Don’t take my word for it, read from the Harvard Health blog how meditation eases stress and its physical & psychological effects.

Respiratory & Cardiovascular System:

Deep breathing. Slowing down the inhales & exhales is a great way to combat the effects of chronic stress on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.

Stress causes us to breathe faster and more shallow, causes your blood vessels to constrict and raise your blood pressure. By relaxing and practicing pranayama as well as poses like sun salutations, we actually can help the heart slow down and work less.

The American Heart Association posted this on their blog about Yoga and cardiovascular health.

Digestive System:

When we are under chronic fight or flight our bodies, the liver in particular, produces extra sugar. If you have excess sugar and your body can’t use or transform it, then diseases like diabetes can creep into your life.

Stress can also cause ulcers, nausea and/or vomiting. It will also prevent absorption of nutrients which can cause additional symptoms of fatigue and not feeling “well”.

At the end of the day our yogic practices create a sense of overall calm in the body and mind. Savanna is a sure way to allow our bodies to rest, our muscles to let go of tension and to realign our minds to let go.

With a daily practice of meditation, pranayama and asana, guaranteed your body will be more prepared to battle stressors! Also understanding that stress is not caused by external sources is HUGE! We must not let negative situations or people get to under our skin – literally!

There are many tools to combat chronic stress with Yoga & meditation at the center, we just need to use them. Start by checking out my Yoga For Beginners: Sun Salutations video.
